Club Match Report
Friday 21st May 2004
Round five of the Saltfleetby Fisheries Club series, and it
was a change of venue. The first four matches have been
fished in the Island Pond, however the next few are taking
place in the main pond. There is a larger head of bigger
fish in this lake and just one fish can potentially win a
match. This was an evening match, which made it all the more
different from the normal “9-2” matches. Not taking a chance
waiting for one big fish was Trevor Pidcock (peg 9) who
fished solidly throughout the match, to finish with 34lb
10oz of carp going to 5lb. Trevor took the sweeps, maximum
points and the golden peg (thus breaking the curse) not a
bad nights work for Trevor. Gordon Greenlees found plenty of
the newly stocked tench on peg 12, and also had carp to 5lb,
to take a weight of 27lb and second. Starting off well Rich
West found the small carp obliging to feed on peg 18, but
the bites slowed toward the end, as did his catch rate, but
still had 25lb 40z for third place. Dave Ross (peg 15)
managed a few of the bigger fish, for 17lb 8oz, the biggest
going over 8lb. Dave was fourth for the third time this
series already. Losing a couple of big fish late on, Jason
Adlam (peg 7) had to settle with 11lb 10oz and fifth spot.
Ian Leggett also found a few fish on peg 11 and returned 7lb
4oz.
Next club match is on May 30th, again on the main pond. Draw
8am, fish 9am-2pm. |
