Club Match Report
Sunday 2nd May 2004
It was the third round
of the club series at The Saltfleetby Fisheries on Sunday
May 2nd. Conditions seemed very favourable on what turned
out to be the hottest day of the year so far. The fishing on
the complex has picked up well over the last fortnight with
pleasure nets topping 60lbs on all three lakes.
The fish on the island
lake however, seemed more intent on basking in the early
summer sunshine than getting their heads down for a good
feed, and as the breeze dropped, the still conditions made
getting bites quite difficult indeed. Richard West (peg 6)
managed to entice more fish than the rest to feed in his
peg, and returned a winning weight of 13lb 10oz of mainly
small carp to take maximum points.
Second place was a
close call between Bob Sinclair and Trevor Pidcock (pegs 4
and 8) and nothing could split them at the scales when both
weighed in 8lb of carp apiece for joint second. Venue
regular Ivor Lovesey (peg17) was third with 7lb 6oz, but
could have had a higher placing if he had not lost so many
fish, or had been able to hit the lightning fast bites he
was getting. Coming in fourth with 4lb 8oz, Len Lovesey
(peg11) was again ruing a lost big fish, which took his end
tackle for a swim much to the amusement of everyone around
the lake. Len did retrieve his beloved float at the end of
the match, with the better than average carp attached no
more! Jason Adlam (peg 21) was fifth, and missed his chance
of a hat-trick of wins with 4lb of small carp. Dave Ross
(peg2) took sixth spot with 3lb 6oz. If Dave arrived on time
and fished a whole match, just think what he could do! The
curse of the golden peg was in force, this week the “lucky”
golden peg drawer ended up with a dry net!
Please not, there is a
point’s adjustment for third place down, because of the
joint second places. Please refer to club match rules sheet.
Next
club match is on May 16th, again on the island pond. Draw
8am, fish 9am-2pm. |
