Club Match Report
Sunday 4th April 2004
The club match series at the
Saltfleetby Fisheries kicked off on Sunday April 4th. This
is a series of 20 matches, with a points system, with some
twenty six members competing for the weekly and overall
trophies.
The Island pond was the setting
for the first match, and with the weather being typically
April, sunny, showers, and very windy it was always going to
be difficult given the conditions. However Seventeen out of
the twenty, who started, all caught fish, and it seems, with
some warmer days previous, fish all over are starting to
spread and get their heads down a bit.
Drawing the golden peg, Trev
Pidcock (6) thought he could be in with a chance of some
extra beer tokens, but could only manage 5th with 4lb 8oz of
small carp. Dave Ross (20) was 4th, and found the fish too
late on his feeder tactics and had 6lb 8oz of small carp.
Fishing a good match, and keeping a steady stream of fish
all day was Chris Johnson (5) who again on the feeder, had
more fish than anyone else but could only manage 3rd place
with 8lb 8oz of small fish. Beating Chris by only 2oz to
take second place was Dave Spence (4) who had a better stamp
of fish (and battled bravely with the wind all day) on the
pole and corn. Making it two wins in as many weeks on the
complex, was Jason Adlam (26), who like Dave Ross, found the
fish late on in the match to the feeder, but had the
advantage of an early bream of around 4lb in the net, to
help record a final weight of 9lb 8oz for the win and
maximum points.
Next club match is on the 18th
April again on the Island Pond. Draw 8am, fish 9am-2pm. |
